The National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art

Rome’s National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art houses the most complete collection of artworks of Italian and foreign art of the period between 19th and 21st centuries. Including paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations, the collection of around 20.000 artworks represents the main artistic movements of the last two centuries, from Neo-classicism to Impressionism, from Divisionism to the Avant-Garde, from Futurism and Surrealism to the significant group of Italian artworks made between 1920ies and 1940ies, from the movement of Novecento to the Roman School.

The collection of National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art and the visit trail focus on very important artworks of the last two centuries, combining paintings and sculptures with different colours, materials, human figures and abstract works. This is a unique opportunity for this kind of public to become familiar with many outstanding artworks in just one place. The space is wide and bright, so that there are few risks of overcrowding and it’s easier to move around without strict succession of rooms, thanks to the building structure.
